Random thoughts

You know, men have the talent of RAINING ON PARADES.   My wonderful husband unfortunately has this talent.  So he reads my blog about the Tide commercial, and says, "So Tide with Febreze makes you smell like a woman?"  and I say, "That's what they say." And HE says, "So you can't wash my clothes in it then...."  :P  That wasn't the point.  And why must we always think of the logical and rational?  Anyway, I didn't buy it today, but now I might out of spite.  And then he can smell like flowers too :)

He's reading this over my shoulder.  Okay, he left.

He also tends to ruin romantic movies by making fun of them.  But in his defense, he gets me flowers for no reason and generally tries to keep me happy (a valuable lesson for husbands and boyfriends every where).  As I told my best friend's husband the other day: "When she wins, you win."   I don't think he was convinced.  But she's generally happy.  So he's generally happy.  Smart men, these ones.

Other random thoughts:
The Veggie Tales song "The Credit Song" made me laugh so I thought I'd share it with whoever happens to read this:

This is the song that runs under the credits
These are the
credits, so this is where it goes
Has nothing to do with
the movie so we’ll say
Hey! Hey! Hey hey hey hey hey hey

There once was a song, that ran under the credits
That went with the movie, but this is not that song
Has
nothing to do with the movie so we’ll say
Hey! Hey! Hey hey
hey hey hey hey

Wouldn’t it be nice if the song under
the credits,
Had something to do with the movie you just
saw
But that’s not the case so for now we’ll have to say
Hey! Hey! Hey hey hey hey hey hey

There should be a
rule that the song under the credits
Remotely pertains to
the movie’s basic plot
That rule has not been made so for
now we’ll have to say
Hey! Hey! Hey hey hey hey hey hey
cont...

Hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
hey hey hey
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
hey hey
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
hey
hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey hey
hey.

You have to hear it to appreciate it.

Because every mom is a woman too.

You know that Tide commercial...the one that says something about smelling like a woman?  "because every mom is a woman too"?  It plays "Be my Baby" in the background.  I am so going to buy Tide with Febreze.  I don't know why that particular commercial brings out that "I need that" feeling in me (besides the obvious- I'm a mommy) but it makes me want to buy Tide with Febreze.  I'm so impressed with the commercial every time I see it.

In other news: Jonathan behaved very well at the gym today.  I take him and Melanie to the Kids Club at Lifestyles while I work out.  He's finally moving beyond the hitting stage.  That or discipline is working.  When I picked him up from the kids club he asked if he was going to get disciplined, and when I said no (he only pushed someone once and then he behaved) he did this subtle little "yes!" move.  It was cute.  Melanie had fun too.  It was funny to see her with like 3 other babies her age in their car seats all sitting around the day care lady.  She was just playing and having a great time!

Anyway, must go.....

Oh, and just to brag a bit....I totally cheated on my diet and I still lost weight last week!  Go South Beach diet!!!!  Go me!!!

a more serious thought

Well, after hearing the president speak tonight about 9-11 I feel compelled to pay my respects to the people who died and the families that were left behind.  I only watched about 45 minutes of the many tributes that have been airing today on TV, but in that span of time I saw child after child, spouse after spouse and many others bereft of parents and loved ones.  I have kids now so it hits me harder than it ever has.  And for the first time, I realized that all this violence is closer to me than I like to think.

1 God is our refuge and strength,
       an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea...

why ice cream is a diet food

Ahem.  For a while now it has become very apparent to me that skinny people like ice cream.  For the most part.  All my life I have had very thin friends who all really like ice cream.  It's their favorite dessert.  My hubby is one of them.  Although he will tell you that all this latin food is making him fat.  Anyway, some people may disagree, but I bet if I asked any of my thin ice cream loving friends what they would prefer: their favorite ice cream to their favorite, say, cake, they would eat the ice cream.

I like ice cream.  But if there was a bowl of my favorite ice cream sitting next to a piece of great cheesecake, the cheesecake would get eaten, and the ice cream would melt into a puddle.

I discovered that science may be on my side regarding this.  Drinking 4 cups of water a day increases your metabolism.  40% of this increase is due to the work your body does to heat the water up.  Well, ice cream is cold.  Your metabolism has to speed up to heat it up.  Therefore, skinny people are skinny because they eat ice cream.  I, however, am not giving up my cheesecake, so I'll just have to keep going to BodyStep to lose weight.

That's my story.  I'm sticking to it.
